About Emma
Hoe gaat het?! (How are you?) My name is Emma, and I live in the city of Amsterdam. Amsterdam is built on islands, and canals run throughout the city. With so much water around, it’s not surprising that swimming is a popular sport in my country. Every summer my mom participates in “langebaanzwemmen,” or long distance swimming. It’s sort of like a swim-marathon that can take place in the sea, a lake or a river. The race can be as long as 6 miles! When I get older, I want to race with my mom and her friends, but until then I’ll keep practicing with my swim team in our in-door pool.
