Aloha! My name is Leilani. My state is made up of 132 islands! They were formed thousands of years ago by volcanoes, some of which are still active. Until the 19th century our ancestors had no written language. Stories were told by performing the "hula", a poetic dance, which tells the history of our land. My sisters and I learn the hula from our "kaho" (teacher). When we have a "luau" (family feast), we have the chance to perform for our entire family. Surfing is my favorite sport. My sisters and I practice a lot so we'll be able to participate in surfing competitions when we're older. Do you know where I live? Hawaii, USA
